Despite its association with joy and cheer, Christmas can be a stressful time for us all. Pressure mounts from all angles; squeezing in a visit to Great Auntie Pat, finding the perfect gift for your wife or daughter, and the obligation to attend work or family and friends' Christmas parties. It really is no wonder so many people feel overwhelmed by the time December comes around.
Picture this: cosy homes, twinkling lights, and excited little faces tearing open presents on Christmas morning. Sadly, not every child gets to experience the magic of opening surprise gifts on December 25th. This year, many families have struggled under the strain of the cost of living crisis. Parents across the country have been making crippling choices between heating their homes or putting food on the table. With the rising cost of utilities, food and housing, many families are faced with these impossible decisions and this is only expected to get worse as Christmas comes around.
Imagining their young children being unable to experience the joy of gifts on Christmas morning, Kane and Lee, Future Power Team’s managing directors, have pledged to change Christmas for children in their communities.
Last year, Future Power Team supported The Eastmoor Community Project and donated pyjamas to their Children’s Christmas Appeal. The Eastmoor Community Project, based at St Swithun’s Community Centre in Wakefield, aims to provide for members of its community who are under the strain of financial difficulties. Their Children’s Christmas Appeal is just one of many examples of how they go the extra mile for their users and the wider community. It saw both businesses and individuals come together to provide food, toys, clothes and pairs of warm pyjamas to families and children in desperate need of warmth in the cold winter months.
This year, we have gone down a slightly different route. The mission is simple yet powerful: for every customer we've served and will serve throughout 2023, we're putting a present under the tree for a child who might not have received one otherwise. We’ll be teaming up with The Eastmoor Community Project once more, alongside Globe Not For Profit in Kippax, another fantastic organisation that works tirelessly to bring smiles to faces that need it the most. From food, toys, clothes and warm pyjamas, they’re dedicated to ensuring our donations make a real difference. Every child deserves to experience the joy of Christmas morning with a gift to open, and we hope to make that happen for many children across the communities we serve.
We know you’re not just our customers; you’re our community, our partners in goodwill. Your support and loyalty have empowered us to take on this festive challenge, and we couldn’t be more excited.
So, let’s spread the joy this Christmas! Together, we’ll create a ripple of joy, one present at a time. There’s still time to join our mission to make Christmas magical for every child.
