Most home batteries are AC-coupled, meaning energy gets converted from DC (panel) to AC (grid) to DC (battery) to AC (use). Each conversion loses ~2%. What's a SolarEdge power optimiser and why does it matter? +
A power optimiser is a small module mounted behind each panel that allows the panel to operate at its maximum-power-point independent of the other panels in the array. With a traditional string inverter, one shaded panel drags down the whole string.
